Free Art Task-Emotions you Show to Others

Supplies needed:

Markers

color pencils

White sheet of paper-any size

Directions:

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and a deep breath out. Do that as many times as you want. While your eyes are closed think about how you express yourself to others. Do you express yourself though anger with a frown, through happiness with a smile or with a flat look. Think about the colors that might represent those emotions that you show to others. Open your eyes when you are ready to begin.

Take a marker and color an oval shape, that is the representation of your face. Add a neck, shoulders and hair if you want. Then take the color pencils and color in the face with colors that represent the emotion you show to others. After you are done coloring in the colors, take a marker and write the emotions on the face.

You can color in the hair, add a shirt or anything else you would like.

Questions to ponder:

What emotions are you showing to others?

Do you want to hide any of these emotions?

Are you hiding any emotions?

Are you selective on who gets to see your emotions?

If you notice mostly anger and sadness, what will you do to cope with those emotions?

What will help you to feel more calm?

Enjoy this Free Task, this is what can be done in an art therapy session. The art therapist will guide you to explore more about your emotions.
